History

The Native Village of Port Lions Traditional Tribal Council set up the Rhea Mae Knagin Scholarship Fund in 2003 following the loss of Rhea Mae Knagin who was a very strong Tribal Leader who advocated for a High School in our Village and the Education of our children.

Funding

Funding for the RMK Scholarship was derived from the Net Proceeds from the Native Village of Port Lions Gaming Program. The Gaming Program Shut down due to the lack of participants in 2003. Since then no funds have been generated for the RMK Scholarship Program.

Awards

Starting in 2003 up until 2008 a total of sixteen 16) Scholarships were awarded to member's of our tribe for a total of $9,000.00 distributed in Scholarships.
